Many times I've just kept my phone in my bag for screenings and said that I didn't have one. They never *really* care because I'm sure that those guys don't get paid enough to care that much. :-)

Stupid "security" everywhere. I often call airport TSA checkpoints "security theatre" and this is just sort of a case of that phrase turned around.

Flip HD video cameras with 4GB memory are not that much bigger than an oversided candy bar... and I'm sure that anyone who wanted to record the movie for illicit commercial purposes could easily rig up something even easier to hide. (The easiest way to get a copy for commercial piracy is probably to pay some low level employee to make a copy in exchange for cash. Quick, simple, highest quality sound and image.)

She loved me in her way. My 'boys' are not her replacements, but her successors. And they've been a challenge at time, with some health issues, but they are lessons in love.

And challenges in typing.
I'm sorry you had to have your cat put down, I know exactly how you feel as we had to have ours put down back in 2001. He was 19 and had severe arthritis so couldn't really walk anymore.

I remember the day clearly as there was an eclipse that everyone was excited about. The vet came around to our house and after a last meal of chicken my mum held him while they put him to sleep. Obviously it was sad, but I was just glad that his suffering had ended.

It looks like we both had a long time with our cats, so at least we can be thankful for that. We got two new ones about a year later (brother and sister), and while one went missing a few years back the other is sleeping beside me as I type this. Nothing can replace Lucky, but I love Sooty more than ever - even if she is hanging around the fridge all the time!

I can also sympathise with the job situation as I was out of work for a year too and have just got a job. At least the job is some comfort for the loss of your cat.

Hi, found you through holidailies on del.icio.us. I've heard of most of these ideas, but for someone who works in retail it's refreshing to hear an idea that doesn't involve a trip to a store where you throw money away on a present that the person may not even like.

Jennifer,

My name is Rob and I'm a Sr. Manager of Customer Loyalty at Zappos. So sorry for your experience.

We're in the process of making a number of improvements to our site and the experience, and we're aware that we've made mistakes along the way. Our goal has been and will continue to be about providing the best possible customer service.

Your feedback is extremely valuable to us, and I appreciate that you've taken the time to write about it. Your voice helps us improve and become a better service company.

I've credited your account for the purchase of the sandals. That's the least I could do for you.

Thanks for shopping with us. I hope you do so again in the future.

Thank you!

In my experience, it's one drink per seating (and non alcoholic, espresso, or OJ). I've been to two screenings in a day where I used the card both times, and had no problem. Still, the drinks covered include their fresh squeezed lemonade at $3.99, so between tax and tip, it pays for itself in two (really good) drinks.

I don't see a restriction listed on the GoLocalAustin site to the number of seatings you can use the card, but I'm sure there's a "subject to change" somewhere. You may want to check with the wait staff just to be sure.

Their site isn't the most user friendly, so you can't see all the local places that are participating, but there are several in the 6th and Congress area, so look for that not burnt orange logo. If you pick one up at the Alamo, go to the Mondo Tees counter to get one.

Great post Jenn... one question about the Go Local card: the rewards page makes it look like you get free softdrinks at the Alamo if you have the card. Is that right? Or are you only able to get a free drink once per location, per card? Because if it's basically unlimited sodas at SXSW Alamo screenings for $10, I'm in.
