The Lists: Worst of 2008, the Personal Version

Now that Christmas is over, it's time for The Lists; the best and worst of 2008.  Here's my personal list of worsts...

  • Neighbors without a hint of clue of the consequences of their actions, including burning tar infused lumber in the fireplace, and having sound systems up so loud that the furniture shakes in other units.
  • Capital Metro increasing the fare to 150%, but increasing the price of monthly fare cards even higher.
  • Target not consistently carrying the two products I buy regularly.
  • The "Claus Goes Centro" ad campaign.  I can just imagine the "let's make Santa hip" pitches.
  • Target's "There's No Place Like Target at Christmas to Save" using school plays to promote consumerism.
  • Regal cinemas lack of ability to ensure films are actually in focus.
  • Poor organization and food prep at Outback Steakhouse
  • Bad scheduling patterns at Austin Film Festival (making it impossible to even a third of those wonderful films)
  • Bank of America being slower at electronic bill pay now than it was a year ago.
  • Time Warner's dispute with the local NBC channel owner.
  • Political attack ads.

  • The Corn Refiners Association's misleading "Sweet Surprise" ads that lamely try to emphasize HFCS as "natural"... so is arsenic, silly people.
  •
