Joyeux Noël

This overlooked film cast with many respected actors from all over the EU, but not well known by American audiences.  Anyone who's ever watched recent German cinema will recognize Daniel Brühl and Benno Fürmann.  Franco-cinephiles will enjoy seeing Guillaume Canet and Dany Boon.  It's another highly sentimental film, but worthy of some attention, if only because it stresses the point of making it hard to hate those you actually get to know.  It's inspired by actual events occurring during the Christmas Truce in 1914 (WWI).  I haven't been able to find any evidence of the singers being based on real people, which is a shame, because it would have been a better story without it, as the rest of it is based on several instances of the Truce being much more than a cessation in battle.

It's harder to kill someone you've celebrated with.
