No Rules? Not Right.
I decided to order lunch and something for dinner from Outback steakhouse. I've been craving steak for over a week, and the nearest steakhouse is an Outback that's about a five minute walk from my door.
I ordered online, thinking that would be the way to go. Wrong. Although, based on the food, I should have just kept walking over to Central Market to get the ingredients to make the stuff myself.
Apparently they don't automatically notify the kitchen of the order. Someone has to manually take the order over. Someone was on the phone in the take out station when I got there, but not paying attention to the order that had been sitting there for 20 minutes.
Another 17 minutes later, it was ready, which is nearly twice as long as the promised time. I will say this; the guy who ended up taking care of the order was nice, and gave me an extra bread. I like their bread.
Unfortunately, that's the only plus. No salad dressing. Overcooked fries, and the salads had no dressing. And the steak, which was meant for lunch, wasn't medium rare. It was barely in the rare category. And the bread seems old, or they've changed the recipe.
And take a look at those blooming onion strips; those are the papery exterior of an onion. Now, I wasn't planning on eating all of it; I only wanted a bit, but I nearly choked on some of the outer pieces. That's just plain laziness.
I normally crave steak maybe three times a year. Today I figured it was cheaper and faster to order from Outback. After this experience, I doubt even the proximity of the Outback will get me back. It wasn't right, and apparently there aren't any quality control rules.
