AustinTexas.org
I just saw on my news feeds that according to the Austin Business Journal, there is a new site allows visitors to plan their perfect day in Austin, appropriately named AustinTexas.org, the brainchild of the Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau.
I thought I'd check it out, because I'd love to find more things to do in the town I called home. After a quick look around, it didn't impress me in a positive way. I hate when I'm forced to hear something on a site without being able to control it. I've already got a soundtrack going, thank you very much, and with the sluggish response of the site, trying to find the 'off' button was a wasted effort.
I took a peek at the "good eats" section, which has all of three restaurants listed.
I think they should have done a lot more work on it before unveiling it.

Just wanted to help you out, as I've been exploring this website recently. I just moved to Austin from Chicago and have been using austintexas.org to find popular places to eat, shop, take my daughter, etc. To turn off the video guide, just click "hide guide" next to the person talking. Also, I found more restaurant listings under those 3 featured places. Just click "see all listings".
Hope that helps!
