LinkedIn Whine: The Quality and Relevance of Questions
I like the concept of the Answers forum, but I'm really not impressed at all the quality of the questions being asked, and on the LinkedIn Blog, they seem to have a different idea of what a good question is on a professional networking site from me as well.
In all other areas of LinkedIn, there is an emphasis on high quality connections and while it's informal, it's intended to be a professional site. But more and more questions seem more apropos on MySpace than on LLinkedIn. The more I see questions like "Will eating an entirely plant-based diet help or hurt a person professionallyt?" (sic) or "Is the Internet an inherently good force in the world, evil force or neither?" the less value I see in this 'new' feature. I have my settings to see questions in my network, but seeing ones like this, or "Are you part of the creative solution or an unconscious reactionary?" just seems like a lot of wasted bandwidth, so I'm probably going to change that setting soon.
The fact that there are so many (obvious) typos is irritating as well (as opposed to the cultural/language barrier typos).
I like seeing requests for advice on what resources to use, which software adds value, and feedback on certification value. Those are all relevant in a professional environment. I am rapidly losing interest in that feature.
