LinkedIn Forcing Monster to Bow?

At my talk a couple weeks ago, was some discussion about the quality of the job listings on LinkedIn, in comparison to other job boards, particularly how cheap it was compared to Monster, which was priced in mid-May for a standard 30day listin for Phoenix AZ at $2300.00.

Two weeks ago, I decided to do a little comparison of major job board posting costs.  I didn't save the table I'd made, but the Austin cost had dropped to just under $900.00. Since I'm going to do a presentation/demonstration to recruiters, I did the research again.

Cost  Job Board*
145  LinkedIn
349  Austin American Statesman
349   HotJobs
395  Monster
419  CareerBuilder
459  Dice
*Standard, 30-day online postings, before any discounts or special offers, as of June 29, 2007.

Also, in case you are interested:

  • #of HR/Recruiters on LinkedIn worldwide: 250,000
  • #of greater Austin area users: 90,000

      Hi Jennifer,
I also heard that Linked released or is releasing a Facebook application, 'My Company is Hiring.'

Pretty cool. It puts recruitment ads on the pages of employess; therefore connecting referrals networks with jobs on LinkedIn...(i think that's how it works.)

      Great blog.

        Matt,

        Thanks for the compliment.

I know they're developing a number of APIs, but I haven't had much time to find out more... yet.  It's on the list of things to do more research on.

And thanks for including your blog; I've got it saved and I'll be checking it out later tonight... right now I have to get moving to run a workshop on "Making the Most of LinkedIn" for jobseekers.

        Have a great day.

Enjoy. You should screencast a workshop sometime. It might be a good way to share what it is that you cover in the workshop, build awareness and create demand for future workshops.

Just an idea. I'm looking into doing the same for some of our services.

      All the best.

Great idea!  I'm definitely going to pursue that.  I have three sessions next week, possibly four (three 'volunteer'), and a weekend one in a couple weeks.

I've added your blog to my blogroll so I don't forget to check it regularly.
