Responses and Emails
One of the job leads I had was for a local staffing company I'd worked with many years ago. I was a bit concerned about the fact that the email address in the referral lead did not have a name, email, or a company related email address, but only a hotmail address.
I didn't provide details in my initial email, but asked some questions. I found out the company, and a bit more about the position, so I supplied my resume. In checking information on the company, they have a very basic page hosted by citysearch, and no company email addresses, other than a generica hotmail account (a different one).
Then heard nothing. That is, until I sent a followup email yesterday, asking for status. I got a response this afternoon saying my contact was out of town, and the position has been filled.
Doesn't seem very professional to me. Or is that just me? I'm not inclined to pursue other opportunities through them, with the lack of response and the lack of professional contact.
I mean, really, what company these days does NOT have their own email account? Or hosted site? It's not that expensive. Having it drives business and contacts. Weird.
