Meeting Etiquette: Cell Phones

A pet peeve of mine is people leaving their ringers on in a meeting or other type of large social group. Especially when they let it ring several times. And they get several calls. And they use ringtones.

It's right up there with stopping mid-conversation to answer a mobile phone, without even an 'excuse me' and it's even worse when they pick it up just to say they have to call back. Who doesn't have voicemail associated with their phone?

There are times when one simply is not going to be available. We all know this. So why not make it a habit of courtesy?  We'd all appreciate it.

Amen to that! This gripe extends to the general situation where you're out with a friend (doesn't have to be work related) and suddenly not only are they answering the cell phone, but they're prattling on having an inane conversation while you stand there looking around wildly for someting to occupy you. So RUDE!

Great blog - thanks for the link.
