I know a guy who's actually involved in something like this. I can give you his name "on the side" if you're interested. I personally have not found that much use for LinkedIn but then again I only have a basic profile and don't really intend on upgrading. But hey, everybody has their "thing" that they're into, right?

I think there's a lot of value in it, and I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a standard networking and job marketing tool. The problem, to me, is people who use it like kids use MySpace. I've cut back a LOT on the connections I make, to the point of not wanting to connect even to people I know, unless I have more than a tentative connection. The groups are a good work-around for that.
The fact that more and more companies are using it to post jobs is a big plus in my book, as a current job seeker.
But yeah, mileage varies, and what works for me may not work for you, and there's nothing wrong with that!
