WWJB, or How Much I love getting Email from Film Directors
What a great thing to find in one's inbox:
I just want to thank you this Easter weekend for your lovely review of WWJB at that magical Austin premiere, which I'm so glad you enjoyed. My favorite part of your review was how you didn't just enjoy it but knew precisely why it worked for you, and it's been such a relief and a pleasure to see that sort of feedback coming in (usually). Thanks again.
Fondly,
Rob VanAlkemade

WWJB is What Would Jesus Buy, a great documentary on Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping. If you aren't sure about it, just know that Morgan Spurlock produced it. It's about the insanity of the commercialization of Christmas, the debt involved, and the mega-corps Reverend Billy takes on for their sweatshop mentality just to provide those products. It's very funny in a haha only serious way. If you liked Supersize Me at all, it's got the same kind of sensibility.
What Would Jesus Buy is on MY Christmast list of DVDs to give out to about a half dozen people I know who need the intervention. Of course, the film needs to be released first, then come out on DVD.
